I need to interface the USB port of the PC using FreeBASIC..... Can someone tell me how to exactly go about with it....

What are you trying to use FB to do? Do you mean a USB drive, printer, or something else?

I'm tryin 2 interface homebrew hardware with it...

Does it appear in Device Manager? I'm not sure how exactly you'd access it through Windows since it probably requires a driver for the hardware abstraction in order to interact with the device.

How can I make FreeBASIC programs interact with Windows?

Todd on 03/14/10 - 12:17:03

In what way?

What I'd do is look up how Windows identifies the device in the first place (via Device Manager). There's usually something that'll appear and by viewing the properties of it, you can get the device ID.

Second, you'll probably need to write a driver for it and you can do so with the DDK or C++.

I'm not sure what your hardware is or what it's supposed to do but does it have a micro controller which is accessed via the USB port or is there something else that the USB port serves a purpose?
