Been a while since I've last seen the QB community.
Anyway, I got Qbasic to run on my Nintendo Wii using DOSBox! All I did was install the Homebrew Channel using bannerbomb/bootmii and then installed DOSBox so I can access it from the Homebrew Channel. After that, I plugged in a thumbrive, copied over everything from my old DOS computer I did development on, and mounted it. Lo and behold, Qbasic sprung alive right on my TV! Only problem (BIG problem) is that VGA Screen 12 640x480 crashes the Wii system. I tried to run EnSpireMe 0.3.0 for s**ts and giggles but it hung at a black screen. My old (like first) GUI SmartOS and its "professional" counterpart S-DOS, which were screens 9 and 13 respectively, ran beautifully. http://mpnqb.moved.in/images/100_1620.JPG http://mpnqb.moved.in/images/100_1621.JPG http://mpnqb.moved.in/images/100_1622.JPG I wrote a small program on the spot to demonstrate that it works. Of course, anything else that runs in DOS (that's not VGA) will work perfectly on the Wii, you might just have to up the speed on more sophisticated games using CTRL+F12. The Wiimote works as a mouse and a wireless keyboard completes the satisfactory UI experience.

Interesting concept! I only used a Wii once and never to its full extent. It's pretty neat that the Wii can accomplish this but then again almost all game consoles can be modded to do things like that.
Is there some DOSBox application for the Homebrew Channel? |
